Titleist 712s Bring Forgiveness ( 7)
McIlroy Explains Move ( 12)
If You Can’t Say
Anything Nice ...
Apparently, hell hath no fury like a certain
caddie scorned. There was a time when
what was expected of a professional caddie
was to, “Show up, keep up and shut up.” It’s
that third part that Steve Williams is having
trouble with.
His public breakup with old boss Tiger
Woods has prompted the heretofore silent
Williams to spit fire and pick up the double-edged blade of racism, astonishingly coming
out unscathed.
Williams is paying no consequences now
that he’s working for Adam Scott and it looks
as if he’s going to get away with it Scott-free,
which seems to be wrong on every level.
Some caddie breakups have happy
endings as Martin Kaymer won in Shanghai
with Christian Donald, the brother and
former caddie of world No. 1 Luke Donald,
on the bag of the former top-ranked player.
Rory McIlroy and Chubby Chandler
spoke publicly for the first time about their
well-publicized split. Chandler was hurt and
McIlroy is moving on, with a victory and a
top-five in Shanghai since kicking Chandler
to the curb.
Paul Casey is back to finding form after
an injury and a divorce that has just come
final that has dragged him down for the past
year. Nothing has been invented to heal –
physically and mentally – like time.
And, finally, the Puerto Rico Open is
making overtures to women’s world No. 1
Yani Tseng to have her in its PGA Tour field.
Everyone hopes that turns out to be a match
made in heaven.
